What are the best apps or other resources for learning how to play poker, and to use for casual practice? Ideally, this resource would be free, user-friendly, capable of taking me from total novice to adequate/intermediate amateur, and even the skill-building would be fun and gamified.
I'd like to be able to play games and do skill-building exercises on my (mac) laptop or on my phone (iPhone 5c) while watching TV or just hanging out. In other words, I'm looking for something like a mix of chess.com (free games v. computer or humans) and duolingo (structured and fun skill-building) -- but for poker.
Unfortunately, since I know absolutely nothing about poker, I can't even tell you what form of the game I like best. Open to all suggestions.
I have tried a couple apps already, but they have been difficult to navigate on my phone (not sure if the problem is my phone's processing power or if I'm just too much of a n00b) and aren't available via laptop. This question or similar ones have been asked before, but the most recent is from 2011 and I think things may have changed since then.
